In Mark 16:14–20, we explore:
• Why Jesus addressed the disciples’ unbelief• What the Great Commission means for us today• The message we are called to proclaim• The signs that accompanied the early church• The ascension of Jesus and what it represents
This passage reminds us that the Gospel is not just something we receive—it is something we are called to share.

But what they don’t realize is… Jesus is walking right beside them.
As they walk, something begins to shift — not around them, but within them.
This passage reminds us that even when we don’t recognize it, God is present, speaking, and working in our lives.
📖 Scripture: Mark 16:12–13
In This Episode

In this Bible study, we explore one of the most powerful moments after the resurrection—Jesus' appearance to Mary Magdalene.
Out of all His followers, Jesus chose to reveal Himself first to a woman whose life had been completely transformed by His grace.
In Mark 16:9–11, we take a closer look at:
• Who Mary Magdalene was and how Jesus changed her life• Why is it significant that Jesus appeared to her first• The truth about women as witnesses in biblical times• What this moment reveals about the heart of God• Why the disciples struggled to believe the resurrection
This passage reminds us that no life is too broken for transformation—and that God often uses those the world overlooks.

In this episode of My Bible Life, we reach one of the most powerful and foundational moments in all of Scripture — the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
In Mark 16:1–8, several women come to the tomb early on Sunday morning expecting to complete burial preparations. Instead, they discover the stone rolled away and hear the astonishing message from an angel:
“He has risen. He is not here.”
The empty tomb confirms everything Jesus claimed about Himself. His resurrection proves victory over sin and death and offers hope to everyone who believes.
In this study, we explore the cultural burial practices of the time, why the women brought spices, the significance of the stone being rolled away, the angel’s message to the disciples (especially Peter), and why the resurrection remains the foundation of Christian faith.
📖 Passage: Mark 16:1–8 (ESV)

In this episode of My Bible Life, we continue our verse-by-verse study through the Gospel of Mark as we examine the burial of Jesus in Mark 15:42–47.
After the crucifixion, an unexpected figure steps forward — Joseph of Arimathea, a respected member of the Jewish council. With courage, he goes to Pontius Pilate and asks for Jesus' body. Pilate confirms Jesus’ death through the Roman centurion before granting the request.
Joseph carefully wraps Jesus in linen and places Him in a tomb cut from rock, sealing the entrance with a large stone. Though it may appear to be the final moment, this passage confirms several critical truths:  Join me as we learn them together.
The burial of Jesus is an essential part of the gospel story, preparing the way for the greatest miracle in history — the resurrection.
📖 Scripture: Mark 15:42–47 (ESV)
• Why Jesus had to be buried before sunset• Joseph of Arimathea’s courage in asking for Jesus’ body• Roman authority confirming Jesus’ death• Jewish burial practices in the first century• The tomb carved out of rock• The fulfillment of Isaiah’s prophecy• The women who witnessed the burial• How this moment prepares the way for the resurrection

The Death of Jesus | Mark 15:33–41
In this Bible study, we come to one of the most significant moments in all of Scripture—the death of Jesus.
As Jesus hangs on the cross, darkness covers the land, He cries out with the words of Psalm 22, and the temple curtain is torn in two. In this moment, the barrier between God and humanity is removed.
In this verse-by-verse study of Mark 15:33–41, we explore:
• Why darkness covered the land from noon to 3 PM• The meaning of Jesus’ cry, “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?”• The significance of the temple curtain tearing in two• Why a Roman centurion declared Jesus to be the Son of God• The faithful women who remained near the cross
What looked like defeat was actually the fulfillment of God’s plan of redemption.
Because of the cross, we now have forgiveness and access to God.
📖 Scripture: Mark 15:33–41 (ESV)

Wednesday Feb 25, 2026

“He saved others; He cannot save Himself.”
In this episode, we stand at the cross.
In Mark 15:21–32, we walk verse by verse through the crucifixion of Jesus and slow down to consider what He truly endured.
Crucifixion was brutal. It was public. It was designed for humiliation.
And yet, Jesus stayed.
In this study, we explore:
• What crucifixion meant in the Roman world• Why Jesus refused the wine mixed with myrrh• How Old Testament prophecy was fulfilled in detail• What the mockery at the cross reveals about the human heart• Why Jesus chose not to save Himself — so that we could be saved
The cross looked like defeat. But it was victory.
Take time today to reflect on what Jesus endured — and what it means for your life.

In Mark 15:16–20, Roman soldiers gather to mock Jesus, dressing Him in purple, placing a crown of thorns on His head, and bowing in cruel sarcasm. What they meant for humiliation was actually the revealing of a greater truth: Jesus is still King.
In this verse-by-verse Bible study, we explore the historical reality of Roman mockery, the prophecy fulfilled in Christ’s suffering, and what it means for believers to endure ridicule without losing obedience.
This episode is part of a verse-by-verse journey through the Gospel of Mark.

In this episode of My Bible Life Podcast, Vanessa Upkins walks verse by verse through Mark 15:1–5, exploring the historical setting, Pilate’s role, and why Jesus’ silence was not weakness, but confident trust in the Father’s plan.
